About Kathleen Freeman

Kathleen is blessed to call the Northwest, with its beautiful mountains and waters, home. A self-proclaimed odd duck, she enjoys stepping away from the world to glimpse it from another angle. Beyond spending time with her family, she loves to travel,  hike, swim, wander the beach, write, read, listen to music, play games, take pictures, people watch, animal watch, and learn a multitude of wacky things, She’s an editor, writer and aspiring novelist.  With multiple works on her plate at all times, she keeps busy. A connoisseur of story, Kathleen loves character, plot, and the craft of writing. Her stories offer beauty and hope, as well as quirky humor and personality .

A member of Northwest Christian Writer’s Association (NCWA) and American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), she’s been writing and critiquing for enough years to be told she’s been around the block a few times. Her work appears in Raising Small Souls, The NCWA Newsletter, Vista Journal for Holy Living, and Clubhouse Magazine. She’s also a recent finalist in the YA category of ACFW’s Genesis Contest for Christian Fiction.

Sunbeams through clouds. Ferns stepping like spiders across red acid-dust hills below trunks reaching for the sky.

Yes, that’s what I love about redwood forests. Add in scolding chipmunks who have nothing to back up their twitchy-tailed threats and the smell of huckleberry pancakes cooking, and I’m there.

The clouds prepare for battle
In the dark and brooding silence
Bruised and sullen storm clouds
Have the light of day obscured
Looming low and ominous
In twilight premature
Thunderheads are rumbling
In a distant overture...

Text Box:

Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes and make a new beginning
Anyone can feel the ache
You think it’s more than you can take
But you are stronger, stronger than you know
Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
You gotta face the clouds
To find the silver lining ~
